The 1866 was already quite popular when the smaller yet quite similar 1873 model was released. It became an immediate favorite. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company may have thought that domestic military sales would make up most of the orders for the firearm but in fact civilian sales and international military purchases were what brought in profit that year. In that day the 1873 was the first lever action available with a broad variety of options. Today an array of options is still offered in Taylor's 1873 line. The carbine model features a carbine style buttstock & forend blued finish parts and round barrel. Taylor's also offers two custom action options on all 1873 models. The Runnin' Comanchero action package includes a custom short-stroke action lightened hammer and trigger pull butt cover lever wrap rear sight dovetail blank and rounded front sight. The Taylor Tuned option includes a custom action with hand polishing custom hammer and lever springs custom magazine tube spring and an overall lightened action. Our custom actions feature one of the smoothest hammer and trigger pulls on the market.

Purchasing through KB House of Guns is simple—just four quick steps:
Browse the catalog, apply filters as needed, and open the product page of the gun that best fits your needs and preferences.
Select the quantity and hit “Add to Cart.”
You’ll select FFL during checkout. You may need to ask the dealer to email a signed copy of their FFL to [email protected], referencing your order number. They must also authorize shipment to their address. This is a general list of FFL dealers and not necessarily a list of who we ship to.
When your firearm arrives, visit the FFL to complete the ATF Form 4473, background check, and any state paperwork. Bring valid photo ID (and permits, if required), pay the dealer’s transfer fee and taxes, then head to the range with your new purchase!
